FindTheWord is an application designed for people who suffer from aphasia and dysphasia. The developer of this app wrote it because his mother suffered a stroke and developed aphasia, which is an impairment of language ability that often manifests itself as a difficulty of finding the right words to refer to something or someone.
The application can be used as an aid for communication. You will see ten pictures when you first launch it. When you move your mouse over an image, a recording of what the image is will be played. These are the categories, or level 1. If you click on a category, you will see different words that fall under that category. For example, if you click on "House", you will then see four new categories: Living Room, Kitchen, Bed Room, and Bathroom. And under each of those, you will see a list of other words, each with its own recording.
FindTheWord has only a limited number of words and recordings, but the great thing about it is that you can create as many categories and subcategories as you want and add your own recordings. So, you can effectively customize this application to your particular needs.
